"Tax credits give you the opportunity to put your state tax payments to work where YOU want them. A $100 gift to Youth in Need reduces your state taxes by more than $50 and your federal taxes by $15 to $35, depending on your tax bracket. So I put my tax payments to work where they do the most good."

Missouri State Tax Credit Programs
Do you pay Missouri State income taxes? Would you like to pay less next year? Make a minimum $100 donation to Youth In Need, and you'll receive a 50 percent Missouri State Tax Credit. The total contribution also may be claimed in full as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax return for the year the donation was made.
The Neighborhood Assistant Program (NAP):
Who qualifies? Anyone who owns a business, pays Missouri State Income Tax and contributes at least $100 to Youth In Need in the form of check, credit card, and/or appreciated stock. For example, a part-time business, such as rental income, qualifies for the NAP credit, which reduces the total tax liability from all income sources.
How will Youth In Need cliens benefit? Your contribution will help assist low-income families and at-risk older youth achieve self-sufficiency, safe housing and healthy development.
Youth Opportunity Tax Credit Program (YOP):
Who qualifies? Anyone who pays Missouri State Income Tax, including individuals, and donates at least $100 to Youth In Need in the form of check, credit card, and/or appreciated stocks.
How will Youth In Need clients benefit? Your contribution will help provide educational/ employment training and housing for homeless youth.
How will you benefit from these programs? You may apply your charitable donation to your federal and state income tax returns and receive an additional 50 percent Missouri State Tax Credit. Tax credits may be applied to the tax year in which the donation was made, or at any time in the next five tax years.
Example:
| Donation |
$1,000 |
Less Federal and State Tax Savings
(Net of maximum AMT offset) |
$375 |
| Less State Tax Credit of 50 Percent |
$500 |
| Total Tax Savings |
$875* |
| Estimated net cost of donation after tax savings |
$125* |
*The above example assumes the highest federal tax bracket of 35 percent and highest Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) rate of 28 percent. Individuals in a lower tax bracket, subject to a lower AMT rate and taxpayers not subject to AMT will experience less, though still considerable, tax savings. The gift of appreciated securities will provide additional benefits not reflected in the above example.
The above example is not intended to represent tax advice. Please consult your tax advisor to learn how tax credits will benefit you specifically.
Here’s what Youth In Need supporters are saying about tax credits:
Dan Rodrigues, former Group President of DRS Technologies and a Youth In Need Development Committee Member, said, “I would have been a Youth In Need supporter anyway. However, the fact that Youth In Need offers its donors tax credits makes supporting the organization personally beneficial as well. Taking advantage of Youth In Need's tax credits gives each donor the power to make a greater impact with their dollars. If a person gives $100 to Youth In Need, then why not give $1,000 through tax credits? With the tax benefits, the $1,000 donation only costs the donor $100. That $1,000 donation goes a lot further to help the children and families Youth In Need serves."
Jerry Daniels, retired President and CEO, Military Aircraft & Missile Systems for The Boeing Company, and Youth In Need’s Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors said, “I have been taking advantage of tax credits for Youth in Need for many years. I honestly cannot think of a better way to really help a great agency while minimizing your out-of-pocket expenses and knowing exactly how your tax dollars are being used.”
