Executive Management Team Bios



Pat Holterman-Hommes, MA, LPC
Chief Executive Officer

In 2013, Ms. Holterman-Hommes became the fourth President and CEO in Youth In Need’s history. A key Youth In Need staff member since 1990, she has extensive expertise in the areas of adolescent development and family therapy, child abuse and neglect issues, positive youth development and organizational development. Ms. Holterman-Hommes currently serves on the National Network for Youth Board of Directors and previously served on the boards for National Safe Place Network, Missouri Coalition of Children’s Agencies and the Community Council of St. Charles County. She also represents the needs of vulnerable children and youth on various regional committees, including the Children’s Services Coalition.

Kim N. Buie
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Buie joined Youth In Need in 2019 and is responsible for the oversight of the agency’s fiscal and facility departments. She has 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance fields, working primarily in a consumer product goods company. Her expertise includes financial/cost accounting, product pricing and analysis, sales, senior leadership and process and operations efficiencies. Buie received an Executive MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. She previously served as Secretary of the University City Swim Club Board.


Rob Muschany
Chief Development Officer
Mr. Muschany has overseen the fundraising and marketing programs at Youth In Need since 2009 after seven years leading fundraising efforts at a school in Hawaii for children with learning differences. A St. Louis native, Mr. Muschany has more than 20 years of experience building development and public relations capacity for nonprofits. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and completed graduate coursework in journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He currently serves on the board of NCCJ St. Louis and previously on the board of the International Student Conferences in Washington D.C.

Tricia Vineyard
Chief Program and People Officer
Ms. Vineyard provides oversight, supervision and operations management of Youth In Need’s residential, counseling, homeless street outreach and Head Start and Early Head Start programs as well as the human resources functions for the agency. Ms. Vineyard has been with Youth In Need since 2000 and served as the Vice President of Human Resources until 2012. She has expertise in people management and development. She holds degrees in Management and Psychology from Webster University. 

Melissa Chambers
Vice President, Head Start 

Ms. Chambers joined Youth In Need in 2014 with 15 years of experience in early childhood education, including 12 years with Head Start and Early Head Start. Her professional expertise includes system development, program management, staff development and grant writing. Ms. Chambers received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia. She is responsible for the oversight and operation of Youth In Need’s Head Start and Early Head Start program.

Michelle Gorman, M.Ed., LPC
Vice President, Youth Programs
Ms. Gorman is the Vice President of Youth Programs. In this position, she provides oversight, clinical supervision and operations management of Youth In Need’s youth programs, including outclient counseling, runaway and homeless youth programs, out-of-school time programs and foster care services. Ms. Gorman has been working for Youth In Need since 1997 and has more than 25 years of experience providing and managing services to children and families. She received her Master of Education in counseling in 1997 from the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

Bob Bertolino, Ph.D., LCSW, LPC, AAMFT, NCC
Senior Clinical Advisor

Dr. Bertolino provides training and clinical consultation to all programs. An innovator in the field of counseling and therapy, Dr. Bertolino is an expert in collaborative, client-informed, change-oriented approaches to psychotherapy. He has presented workshops throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Dr. Bertolino is licensed as a marital and family therapist, professional counselor and clinical social worker in the state of Missouri. He also is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. He has authored or co-authored nine books, including three focusing on adolescents and young adults, and one that addresses sexual abuse and trauma treatment.

Ashwini Kherdekar 
Senior Inclusion & Equity Advisor 
Ms. Kherdekar joined Youth In Need in 2014 as a Therapist in the Teen Parent Program. After being actively involved in Youth In Need’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, she transitioned into the role of Anti-Bias Anti-Racism Coordinator in 2018. Currently, Ms. Kherdekar leads the agency’s diversity program as the Senior Inclusion & Equity Advisor, where she oversees Youth In Need’s efforts to eliminate systemic racism, which includes staff diversity training, an employee Diversity Council and an internal anti-bias anti-racism audit. Ms. Kherdekar received her bachelor’s degree in the Psychology Honors Program from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a master’s degree in Speech and Interpersonal Communication from New York University and a master’s degree in Social Work from City University of New York’s Lehman College.
