Step Up and Speak Out: Let’s End Youth Homelessness

November is Youth Homelessness Awareness Month. Every year, Youth In Need participates by hosting Step Up and Speak Out—a community event created to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and support the youth in our community.

You’re invited to join us for a panel discussion with Youth In Need counselors who work directly with youth experiencing homelessness, covering:

  • What youth homelessness really looks like
  • How housing instability affects mental and emotional well-being
  • How counseling and supportive relationships can help youth move toward safety and stability
  • And more!

It’s a powerful evening and we hope to see you there!

Open for Service: Youth In Need’s New Community Hub

Last month, we celebrated the opening of our new community hub in Spanish Lake!

This hub will serve North St. Louis County by providing:

  • Mental health counseling
  • Support for runaway, homeless and at-risk youth
  • Safe Place services
  • Community partnerships and resources

This is made possible through our Soar Campaign—a capital campaign aiming to raise $6.5 million to create opportunities, strengthen communities and ensure every young person has the support they need to thrive.

We are almost at our goal; help us cross the finish line! Joining the Soar Campaign directly helps us expand access to support and create lasting opportunities for children, youth and families.

Youth In Need Celebrates Head Start Awareness Month

Last month, Youth In Need joined thousands across the country in celebrating National Head Start Awareness Month!

Head Start programs prepare America’s most vulnerable young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. This vital program delivers services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way.

“Behind every activity is a purpose—building language, confidence, independence, social skills, motor skills, early math and literacy skills and so much more,” a representative from Youth In Need’s Montgomery County Early Learning Programs said.

Youth In Need is proud to be a Head Start and Early Head Start provider!
